International Freight Forwarding Officer – Mombasa, Kenya.

Our client, one of the leading logistics providers in East Africa is looking to recruit an experienced International Freight Forwarding Officer who will be responsible for handling the international freight forwarding desk in the company which is to facilitate the pick-up and shipping of clients’ cargo from various destination up to CFR Kenya Port. The ideal candidate must have good knowledge of the import and export process and international freight business. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Handling the international freight forwarding part of shipments that are handled by the company on a door to door basis.
• To provide sea freight rates to the commercial team/pricing desk.
• Optimizing transport planning in the most efficient way for the customer and the company.
• Continually reviewing freight costs, transportation rates and cuts down costs where possible.
• Maintaining proper and accurate pre-shipment administration for IFF shipments.
• Ensuring correct estimates in the operations system.
• Stakeholder management adequately and proactively inform customer relationship management teams with cargo details.
• Taking steps to avoid quality control issues.
• Streamlining shipping and pick up processes.
• Development of working relationships with shipping lines.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in transportation or a related field.
• Must have more than 5 years of experience in the logistics industry.
• MUST have good knowledge of the import and export process and international freight business.
• Must be deadline oriented.
• Must have a continuous improvement mindset.
• A team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills.
