Our client a conservancy north of Nairobi is looking for a qualified Accounts Payable Accountant. The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce/ CPA-K/ ACCA and willing to work in Nanyuki. He/She will be responsible for accurate and effective management of accounts payable ledgers in compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain creditors’ book inclusive posting of invoices, credit notes, allocation of receipts, dispatching of remittance advises and reconciliation of the statement to the Ledgers.
  • Preparation of the monthly age analysis and ensure reconciliation of creditor’s statements with the ledger to identify any variances.
  • Conduct appropriate written and telephonic correspondence and follow-ups with creditors regarding queries, dispute resolutions, remittances, and WHT certificates.
  • Preparation of payments on basis of due suppliers and getting approval from HOU/CFO for go ahead.
  • Follow up for creditor statements, missing invoices and credit notes from suppliers for disputed items and prices as well as wrong invoicing on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciliation of all intercompany creditor’s accounts.
  • Annual audit preparation.
  • Maintain a proficient filing system for account payable records.
  • Any other duty is given by the supervisor as and when required.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) / CPA (K) or ACCA.
  • Must have above 3 years’ experience in a busy working environment.
  • Good understanding of IFRS, local tax regulations and statutory financial accounting and reporting.
  • Must be detailed oriented and possess good communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of relevant accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Sunsystems and Paymaster will be an added advantage.
