A safari group with a number of camps is looking for a Chief Operation Officer to be based in the Masai Mara. The successful candidate will be responsible for Financial Control Implementation, Leading Organizational Development, Operational Strategies, Service Delivery, Policies, Procedures and Infrastructure, Project Development, Improvements and Compliance, in order to ensure sustained positive organizational and economic growth, in line with Company’s Mission and Values. Our client is looking for someone with high energy, self-motivated, persistent with sharp business ethics and a competitive and entrepreneurial spirit. As well as a proven track record of driving stakeholder and customer satisfaction with an inherent passion for hospitality.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate company strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth.
  • Position the company to remain competitive, driving personalized services and initiatives.
  • Anticipate industry operating trends and partner with the senior teams to drive innovation and establish plans to incorporate new concepts and strategies throughout all the camps.
  • Improve performance measurement and reporting capability.
  • Organisational Development.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and other senior leaders in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy and hiring needs.
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention within Operations.
  • Coordinate operational teams, tools and resources, and systems to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Oversee company operations and team productivity.
  • Set, document, and implement standards within all departments across all Camps.
  • Ensures that the standards are maintained through regular review and daily monitoring and encourage team members to be innovative and assist in improving such standards.
  • Continuously improve flexibility and the ability to respond to new and ongoing marketing initiatives.
  • Adhere to Company, Government, County, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management or related field. A Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in multi-unit hospitality operations within Safari destinations.
  • Senior Management experience is a requirement, Executive Leadership preferred.
  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • Team player with a long-term commitment to the organization.
  • Understanding of advanced business planning, regulatory and licencing requirements.
  • High level of business acumen including accounting and financial management.
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheet and word-processing programs.
  • Fluency in data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
