Nairobi Members of the County Assembly have set in motion a fresh process of removing Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko from office.

This is after 86 of the 122 MCAs appended their signature to the notice of motion to impeach beleaguered Sonko.

The threshold of 42 signatures needed to push on with the ouster motion was met on Thursday, paving way for a second attempt at kicking the county boss out of office.

Moving the motion, minority leader Michael Ogada put forward a number of grounds for his removal from office, key among them gross violation of the Constitution and abuse of office.

MCAs allied to the Jubilee Party governor linked the plot to impeach him for his refusal to assent to the bill approving the Sh37.5 billion 2020-2021 county budget passed by the assembly.
