Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka was on Friday admitted at Nairobi Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after developing complications while with a woman at an apartment in Kilimani area.

The woman, who is not his wife, was taken in police custody for questioning as investigations into senator Kabaka’s predicament continued.

The first-time senator is said to have complained of a “headache” and asked the woman to get him painkillers but his condition worsened forcing her to inform the apartment’s management.

The management then called in the paramedics who rushed the legislator to hospital in an ambulance for urgent medical attention.

Kabaka’s relatives reported the matter at Kilimani police station at around 3am after they were informed by the senator’s aide that he had been rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The kin indicated that they had been informed that the Machakos senator had been taken to the hospital after he fell ill while in an apartment situated along Elgeyo Marakwet road.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) proceeded to the scene and took over the investigations and detained the yet to be identified woman at Kilimani police station.

Substances recovered at the apartment have been taken to the government chemist for analysis as DCI continues interrogating the woman said to be from Wote town in Makueni.

Although the incident was reported at Kilimani police station, Nairobi county police commander Rashid Yakub said he had only seen the matter on social media and could not divulge much.
