President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally met his predecessor President-elect William Ruto. The two leaders met at State House, Nairobi, on Monday, in the final hours of Uhuru Kenyatta's presidency. President-elect Ruto, who was accompanied by his wife Rachel, was received by President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret. https://twitter.com/ntvkenya/status/1569316350572597248?s=20&t=cfA0wzoJmQHJKG5folYJIg The leaders were expected to hold the meeting in the evening hours before President Kenyatta officially hands over power to President-elect William Ruto at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. Sources indicate the meeting will discuss among others the hand over process and event in which up to 17 presidents and Heads of State are expected to attend. The meeting comes months after reported cold blood between the two leaders. After his August 9 polls victory was upheld by the Supreme Court, President-elect Ruto told the public he had not talked to President Kenyatta 'in months'. The President-elect however promised to reach out to his boss so as to discuss transition. Days later, Ruto told CNN in an interview that President Kenyatta had 'not bothered' to reach out and congratulate him following his election victory. "Maybe he is still disappointed that his candidate (read Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga) lost in the elections," opined Ruto. And at the heights of the campaigns, Ruto said he did not fear President Kenyatta, but warned him against harming his children. President Kenyatta has separately indicated he does not agree with the Supreme Court ruling but vowed to respect it and peacefully hand over power 'while smiling'.
