The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Wednesday said that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has sent him a report on the probe into former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i alleged home raid of his home. Mr Haji said he will review the file and advise on the appropriate action to be made in due course. "The duplicate file herein will be reviewed, and a decision thereto, shall be made in due course, based on the evidence, facts, the law, and the Decision to Charge Guidelines, 2019," said Mr Haji. Matiang’i is under probe by the DCI following the reported police raid on his Karen home in Nairobi on February 9, 2023. Also read: Is Fred Matiang’i now a marked man? The former powerful CS was on Tuesday grilled for hours an the DCI headquarters. Police maintain they never raided his home at the time and accuse him of spreading false information meant to ‘spread tension in the country’. Matiang’i was reportedly released on condition he will avail himself in the event he is required in the near future. His release followed a day of high drama at the DCI headquarters which began with Matiang’i temporarily barred from accessing its offices despite the summons until ‘all his lawyers are registered’. Also read: Matiang’i released ahead of court date The DCI has separately written to the Head of Public Service requesting for information on Matiang’i's wealth declaration forms since he joined Cabinet in 2013. The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision (EACC) are also said to be investigating some of Matiang’i's dealings while at the helm of the Ministry of Interior and Education. Matiang’i served as a minister in three different portfolios, including Education and Interior dockets, between 2013 and 2022 under former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration. In the run-up to the August 9, 2022 General Election, the current administration, President William Ruto and his allies blamed Matiang’i of targeting politicians who were allied to the then Deputy President.
