A man was on Friday evening crashed to death by a train in Athi River, Machakos County. The unidentified man lost both his legs and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Machakos Level Five Hospital. Nairobi News understands that the area where the incident took place had been cleared by officers from the Railway Police Unit. Mavoko Chief Nzau Komo told the media that the deceased was walking along the railway line when the tragedy occurred. Also read: Kawangware traders clash with police over demolition of their stalls "He was walking along the railway line when he was crashed by the train which did not stop after the accident," Mr Komo said. The chief argue residents to be careful crossing or walking near railway lines. The body of the deceased is at Machakos Level Five Mortuary where it is lying awaiting a postmortem. In one such incident, the official vehicle of Nairobi Assembly Speaker Mr Kennedy Ng’ondi was involved in an accident in Kabansora area of Donholm on April 24, 2023. The incident happened as the Speaker was on his way to his office when his vehicle was hit by the train as the driver tried to cross the railway line. Speaking to Nairobi News, Ng’ondi, who was in his personal vehicle, said that his conscience drove him to use another vehicle that was behind the official one assigned to him by the county.
