Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has told Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya Coalition to stop opposing the proposed Finance Bill 2023 since it will automatically sail through Parliament. Speaking on Saturday at a fund raiser St Charles Lwanga in Kitui County, Gachagua said the opposition coalition cannot stop the Bill since they are outnumbered in the National Assembly by the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance. “Hakuna haja ya kupinga kitu itapita (There is no need of opposing something that will be passed),” Gachagua said. Lazima tuzitoe kwa wananchi (As much as the opposition is opposing the Bill, the truth is that that you people want development. We have to pay the newly employed teachers, we have to construct road and ensure that we develop our community," he said. "Honestly, where do you think we will get the money to do all these? We have to fish it from the people,” the DP added. The Deputy President also said street protests by the opposition will not change anything. You see Raila only come to you after every five years and you voted for him," he said. During the function, the Deputy President donated Sh500,000 to St Charles Lwanga for lunch, as he called upon the people of Kitui people to support the Bill.
