Our client is looking for an experienced Head of Operations for is offices in Nairobi. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing overall customer satisfaction and driving revenue growth for both new and existing customers. This includes overseeing the operational deployment of wireless network and Power solutions to all customers within the Kenya market and the maintenance of all Tower sites. He/She will support the Sales team, to develop, prospect and maintain customer relations with all regional wireless carriers in addition to other companies, (including consultants and third parties) that require wireless and Power solutions and services within the designated market. In addition, this position will be responsible for creating a high-performing Operations division that proactively works with third-party vendors to meets customer SLA’s and expectations, achieve financial/P&L targets, manage site security and operations effectively while meeting Environmental Health, Safety compliance requirements within Kenya. The incumbent is responsible for effectively direct the operations team to develop the appropriate customer solutions. The Head of Operations and Maintenance must have a thorough knowledge of the customer’s site development and decision-making process.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To develop and manage client relationships in order to maximize Company sales and revenue across all products and services.
- Maintain working knowledge of master license agreements and service contracts related to active contracts.
- Provide support to the Sales team to enhance their understanding of customer development and network expansion.
- Effectively manage the Operations team to develop, implement and maintain the appropriate customer solutions.
- Develop a detailed knowledge of collocation implementation and Build-to-Suit procedures.
- Negotiate complex, successful telecommunication agreements with carriers.
- Oversee and aggressively research and analyze market data to identify potential carrier partnerships that align with business objectives.
- Establish team goals and develop tracking metrics.
- Oversee the timely execution of site development and build to suit projects per agreed terms.
- Develop strong internal relationships with all functional areas of the company.
- Partner with the Legal Manager to ensure compliance with agreed SLAs & company specifications.
- Responsible for maintaining, monitoring and evaluating all site Remote Monitoring Systems.
- Effective management of Capex and Opex budgets.
- Management of Environmental Health, Safety compliance requirements.
- Oversee effective contractual and working relations with agreed third party contractors and/or Vendors.
- Manage power as a business with visible ROI on all Power Capex investments.
- Establish strategies around direct cost minimisation within the Kenya operations.
- Recruit, develop and retain staff, partnering with Sr. Management and Human Resources.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 10+ years Wireless Industry Experience and 6+ years Senior Management Experience.
- Supervise and Manage the performance of 7 direct reports and 35 indirect reports.
- Demonstrate success in identifying and synthesizing customer needs into a concise, clear and influential presentation.
- Ability to work effectively across many internal functional groups.
- Self-motivated – Able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests.
- Ability to identify strong talent and build individual and management capability.
- Excellent planning and leadership skills.
- Goal-oriented, strategic and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively influence decision making in key negotiations.
