Borussia Dortmund’s then coach Jurgen Klopp (R) greets then Real Madrid counterpart Jose Mourinho prior to the Champions League semi-final first leg in Dortmund, western Germany on April 24, 2013

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom, Jan 16 – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said his team played the better football and deserved maximum points after playing to a 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised for United six minutes from full-time after the visitors had taken the lead through a James Milner penalty just before the half hour mark.

The Reds were under intense pressure towards the end of the game as United looked for the winner but Klopp insists Liverpool’s performance deserved all three points.

The German told Sky Sports after the game: “It was a very positive performance. We were the better side, played better football and had a better plan.

“I had a few line-up problems but the boys did really well and played good football. Unfortunately, we only scored with a penalty and I think of other situations when we could have been a little bit more clinical to score. Especially in the last 20 minutes when Untied only played long balls, then it was difficult.

“I think we would have deserved the three points today but now we take one and that’s OK. The performance was good.”
