Operations Director – East Africa

The world’s largest and fastest-growing Chain of primary and pre-primary schools is seeking to recruit an Operations Director, who will be responsible for all core operations within East Africa. The Director will be responsible of entire 350+ schools across Kenya and Uganda. The ideal candidate must have more than 8 years of experience in fast-paced start-up organizations, managing operations in Supply chain, I.T, internal audit, retail and running logistics. The candidate must be system oriented and with cost analysis, analytical and data processing skills. Candidates with a background in Project management and/or I.T sector will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Managing procurement, logistics and overseeing warehousing.
• Ensuring cost-effective supply of resources to all the schools in East Africa.
• Managing a team of more than 50 staff in different departments.
• Managing the Customer Care Call Centre in provision of support to all stakeholders.
• Monitoring the Quality Assurance Department, for internal and field-based audits.
• Supporting the IT department in the provision of tech-based functions to the Academies.
• Managing Retail by ensuring that school feeding, uniforms and revenue drivers are run effectively.
• Managing 3-4 program managers in charge of preventative fraud management, facilities and repairs, and instructional and academic delivery.
• Responsible for all operational performance indicators of all the Academies.
• Create a system-oriented processes and approaches to modify the operational component of Bridge model.

Qualifications: 

• Must be a holder a relevant Bachelor’s Degree with strong academic performance.
• Must have over 8 years of post-graduate, full-time work experience.
• Must have work experience in Operations in a highly political industry.
• Must have experience managing a multi-unit retail environment.
• Must have experience developing a culture of focus on customer satisfaction.
• Must have experience improving productivity and reducing cost of a product or a service.
• Must have experience managing people in emerging and ideologically political markets.
• Proven records of building data-driven operational systems.
• Experience of management consulting is an added advantage.
