Our Client is a leading Insurance Company and the world-class insurer of choice for over 30 years. They consistently provide innovative, unique and affordable products and services that exceed customers’ expectations. They are looking to recruit an Investment Management Officer to be based in Nairobi. The Ideal Candidate Must have an Accounting/ Finance/ Economics or related degree, and over 3 years relevant experience in investment management/insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Do regular research/reading to stay apprised about the Kenyan economy, global financial markets & current events.
  • Maintain current knowledge about financial products available to corporate and individual clients.
  • Develop reports on investment analysis to facilitate the investment decision making process.
  • Use complex financial models to project future earning and profit potential.
  • Make decisions about financial and investment opportunities on behalf of clients.
  • Meet with an investment team, analysts and other managers, to stay up-to-date about market situations and company decisions that may impact one another.
  • Take on high levels of responsibility on behalf of financial institutions, corporate clients, investment organisations, and insurance companies.
  • Develop relationships with clients and expands client network in professional and social settings.
  • Specialise in a particular field or industry to aspire to achieve expert level knowledge.
  • Develop financial models, conduct independent business valuations & update the company’s research library.
  • Attend investor and company briefings. Conduct client visits and compile reports.
  • Prepare quarterly investment reports indicating performance statistics in liaison with the Portfolio Managers.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis to make recommendations regarding asset allocation.
  • Conduct client presentations on specific investment options.
  • Collate & analyse the macro & micro economic conditions, company fundamentals & make recommendations
  • Participate and contribute in investment committee meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related degree.
  • Relevant qualification/ training in sales and marketing.
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in investment management/insurance setup.
  • Work exposure in the financial services sector would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience and success in selling financial services products.
  • Experience of selling unit trust investment products would also be an added advantage.
  • A good working knowledge of financial markets and financial products.
  • CPA –K qualification is preferable.
  • A high sales drive and a strong will to succeed.
  • Be up to speed with current investment opportunities.
  • Good time management and must be a very strong communicator.
  • Assertiveness and self-driven.
  • Honest, reliable, dependable and ethical.
  • Good interpersonal skills, confident, determined.
  • Sound analytical and investment skills, keen interest in and understanding of financial markets.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to solve problems and make effective decisions.
  • Generally accepted accounting principles knowledge.
