Reporting to the Chairman, this leadership role is responsible for managing the daily operations to achieve planned goals for revenue and profit while maintaining standards for guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction, quality assurance and asset protection. This position requires experience in all phases of Camp Management including product upgrade to a boutique offering or status, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, F&B, Budget/forecast management and Maintenance. The job will be based in Nairobi with occasional travel to the Masai Mara.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monthly updates to Chairman/Board of Directors on all financial and operational issues at the camp
• Preparing and managing budgets and financial plans as well as providing controls for the proper handling and accounting for all receipts and expenses
• Develop action plans to deal with forecasting and planning issues
• Setting and achieving sales/profit targets, maintain credit policies in sales, reservations controlling and managing all services provided to guests
• To oversee the planning, organizing and managing of the various maintenance, repair and capital projects of the camp
• Supervise and develop operations, including management of reservations to ensure maximum room occupancy
• To carry out systematic checks of all Front Office areas and equipment for maintenance requirements, repairs or refurbishing, ensuring that these are actioned without delay
• Develop, implement, monitor and participate in a comprehensive sales and marketing plan including digital marketing that results in optimum rates and occupancies
• To ensure that the company complies with all its licence requirements and other regulatory requirements under the law
• Manage the entire staff at the camp and in Nairobi and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff members

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management
• Over 10 years’ management experience in a similar position
• Prior proven experience in meeting goals, developing and managing budgets
• Extensive knowledge of Kenyan hospitality/camp industry and latest trends
• Excellent at dealing with people at all levels
• Strong communicator with excellent written and oral skills
• Versatile and able to think laterally to solve problems
• Ability to build, train and mentor team employees
