Accountant – Mombasa, Kenya

Our client, one of the leading logistics providers in East Africa is looking to recruit an Accountant whose primary role is to do reconciliation (Payables, receivables, bank, etc.) He/ She will also be responsible for filing taxes on iTax data entry on the system and assisting with external and internal edits. The successful candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Checking Sundry payables remittances and reconciliations of the same to their relevant statements and accounting systems in order to meet various stipulated deadlines for payment runs.
• Initiating transaction on the system.
• Filing withholding VAT and other taxes on iTax before the due date.
• Doing reconciliations- payables, receivables, bank and other required.
• Ensuring withholding VAT, withholding tax and all statutory deductions related to payments made have been duly deducted and paid to KRA.
• Assist in the annual audit and internal audits.
• Analysis of all costs on Year to Date and monthly basis.
• Any other duties allocated to you.

Qualifications:

• Must have a relevant bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
• Must be CPA (K) or ACCA finalist.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years working in a similar role.
• Must be Proficient in using iTax.
• Must be Proficient in using the Accounting system, General Accounting skills and Computer skills especially excel.
• Must have good knowledge of taxes.
• Must be a good team player with excellent communication skills.
• Must be organized, accurate and detail-oriented.
• Flexibility and commitment. Must be willing to move to Mombasa.
• Must be highly reliable and Confidentiality.
• Results-oriented and able to deliver within very strict deadlines.
• Can work under minimal supervision.
