Our client, a Service Support Company with Head offices in Dubai, is looking for an experienced Pastry Chef for their Oil & Gas Camp in Basra. The successful candidate’s main responsibility will be to prepare a variety of bread, desserts, pastries or other sweet items. He/she will have excellent skills in baking high-quality products and be creative to develop amazing tastes and interesting recipes. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of culinary arts and a passion for sweet and delicious creations. He/she must adhere to health and safety standards to provide the clients with the best possible looking and tasting products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, etc. following traditional and modern recipes, including preparing picnic lunches.
  • Create new and exciting desserts to keep menus lively, interesting and varied.
  • Decorate the pastries using different icings, toppings, fresh fruit and herbs to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, nuts and fruit, placing the orders with thought and looking to ensure that going out of dates are used up.
  • Check the quality of the material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking and make sure they are clean and fit for purpose.
  • Guide and motivate and train the team of chefs and pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently and willingly and with great skill.
  • Maintain a calm, clean & orderly cooking station & adhere to health & safety standards.
  • Create new and exciting hot desserts to enhance the menus and offer the variety that will excite and interest the clients.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role.
  • Great attention to detail and creativity.
  • Good people, organizing and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to keep learning and expand professional knowledge.
  • Excellent knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, baking techniques and general nutrition.
  • Working knowledge of baking with special dietary requirements such as gluten-free, sugarless and low calorie.
  • An up to date and valid passport and a clean health certificate.
  • Knowledge of Arabic would be helpful but not essential.
