Instead, they must file to remove this condition 90 days before the Green Card expires, or they will be at risk of losing the permanent resident status that comes with winning the lottery. “A family-based conditional permanent resident must file a Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. If you are an investor/entrepreneur-based conditional permanent resident, you must file Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions,” the site further guided winners. Some benefits include using the Green Card to Prove employment eligibility in the United States when completing the Form I-9 - Employment Eligibility Verification and allowing a cardholder to apply for a Social Security Card and a state-issued driver’s license.
