A Kenyan woman was over the weekend thrown from the 13th floor of a building after she allegedly rejected the advances of her employer’s son. Ms Grace Wanjiru Wangui's family said that she had informed them that her boss's son was disturbing her and always pestered her asking for sexual favours. Something she rebuffed severally before the issue escalated to violence. They said that on the day their daughter met her death, the son hit Ms Wangui, 34, on the head before throwing her off the 13th floor of their building.
Also read: Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone spotted with Sh15m ride The incident is reported to have happened on September 30, 2022. “The reports that we have right now is that the man made sexual advances to my sister and when she refused, he took a metal, hit her on the head before throwing her body to the ground floor of the building,” the brother told the media. “All we are requesting is that the government assists us in bringing her body back home,” added the brother. The brother said that Ms Wangui was the sole breadwinner for the whole family and they all looked up to her.

Ms Wangui, left her home in Moi’s Bridge located in Uasin Gishu County in 2015 and went to work as a house help in Cairo, Egypt. She worked with her first employer until two weeks before her death when she moved to a different one following the end of her contract. Authorities in both Kenya and Egypt are yet to officially comment on the death. Cases of women who seek employment in the Gulf and end up being mistreated have been on the rise and so little is being done to help solve the problem.
