While making her contribution on the floor of the house in a debate on sexual harassment, the fiery lawmaker said women are mostly the victims. She said the House should come up with a law to ensure that perpetrators of such acts face the law.
"I don't support the death penalty, but if I did, I would support the death penalty for such people, but since I don't support the death penalty, I think we need to enhance the sentencing to life imprisonment," she said.
She further added that in most cases, their children suffer the shame the most. Millie further said everyone should be allowed to be answerable to their God on the issue of morality since it is a personal issue. "Let us not bring issues of somebody to ourselves. Let that be their own issue. But what someone has done in private, why are you bringing it in public? The MP further asked why people make it look as if women created sex in this country. Millie Odhiambo was speaking a few days after CAS Millicent Omanga’a alleged intimate video went viral on social media. The alleged video shows the politician in a bed half-naked, with a similar dress she wore in one of tree planting projects. Her video elicited a heated debate over the intention with many condemning the issue.
Consensual or not, posting of nudity is an offense under the Computer Misuse & Cybercrimes Act, which specifically provides for a jail term of up to two years or a fine of Sh200,000. As per the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act, 2018, passed by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta, it is a crime for someone to leak another person’s digital information online.
