Our client, a Service Support Company with Head offices in Dubai, is looking for a professional Sous Chef for their Oil & Gas Camp in Basra. The successful candidate will be second in command and will employ his/her culinary and managerial skills in order to ensure the kitchen produces good quality food whilst enhancing customers’ satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help in the preparation and design of all menus.
- Produce high-quality dishes both in imagination, design and taste.
- Ensure that the kitchen operates in a calm and timely way that will produce great quality and tasty food.
- Assist and fill in for the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary or when he is away.
- Be quick to solve and take control of any issues/problems that may arise.
- Manage and train the kitchen staff, monitor performance and train staff to create a better kitchen.
- Order the kitchen daily supplies so issues are done only once a day.
- Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers.
- Help in the preparation and design of all food so it remains fresh, interesting and varied.
- Produce high-quality dishes to look good and taste great.
- Ensure that the kitchen operates in a clean, calm and timely way that will produce quality food.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as a Sous Chef or Chef de Partie.
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment & procedures.
- Knowledge of Continental, Indian and Asian cuisine.
- Excellent record of kitchen and staff management.
- Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions.
- Understand all the health and safety procedures required to work in a busy kitchen.
- An up to date and valid passport and a clean health certificate.
- Knowledge of Arabic would be helpful but not essential.
